Camp Workers’ Dress Code

Please note that the dress code applies to all camp events, including training, pre-camp, camp, and retreats.
We appreciate your cooperation in presenting a professional appearance to those we minister to.

Girls’ Dress Code

  • You will be given 5 Camp Hope Haven t-shirts and they must be worn for all activities except pool time, shower time, Thursday evening, and at night once activities are over and you are in your dorm/cabin.
  • Shorts need to be mid-thigh length. Short shorts are not allowed.
  • Shorts need to be made form an athletic material or jean material.
  • Pajama shorts are not allowed to be worn throughout the day.
  • Please plan on dressing up for the Thursday evening program. For example, you might wear nice pants or a skirt and a nice top. Please avoid t-shirts and jeans.
  • All clothing should fit loosely.
  • For pool times, please wear one piece bathing suits or tankinis. The midriff should be covered at all time. Bikinis and monokinis are not allowed. A t-shirt over a bikini is not an acceptable alternative.
  • No extreme hairstyles or unnatural hair colors.
  • No bare feet in the Shaffer building or outside the cabins.
  • Flip-flops are permitted, but not during sports, physical activities, or when in the kitchen or at the barn. Closed-toe tennis shoes must be worn during these activities.
  • Facial piercings such as nose rings, eyebrow rings, and tongue piercings are not permitted. You will be asked to remove them and clear jewelry is not allowed as a replacement.
  • Bringing jewelry to camp is discouraged.  It is permitted, but Camp Hope Haven is not responsible for any loss or damage to jewelry. Jewelry is prohibited in the pool area. Lifeguards are not responsible for jewelry that is left in pool area.
  • All tattoos must be covered during work hours and at all camp events, such as pre-camp training, and worker retreat.

Guys’ Dress Code

  • You will be given 5 Camp Hope Haven t-shirts and they must be worn for all activities except pool time, shower time, Thursday evening, and at night once activities are over and you are in your dorm/cabin.
  • Loose fitting shorts/pants must be at least knee length (no boxers should show).
  • Jeans must be loose fitting. No tight jeans.
  • All clothes must be loose fitting.
  • Please plan on dressing up for the Thursday evening program.  For example, you might wear nice looking pants or shorts and a shirt with a collar. Please avoid t-shirts and jeans.
  • For pool times, appropriate length swim trunks must be worn. No short swim trunks or speedos allowed. Shirts must be worn when you are not swimming unless given specific person. 
  • Hair should be neatly cut; and should be above the ears and not touching the collar of the shirt. No extreme hairstyles or unnatural hair colors.
  • No bare feet in the Shaffer building or outside the cabins.

  • No necklaces, chains, or earrings are permitted.  Facial piercing(s) and/or tongue piercings are not permitted. You will be asked to remove them and you are not allowed to use clear jewelry as a replacement.
