Job Descriptions

At Camp, it is important that we all do our jobs to the best of our abilities by completing and doing all that is expected based on our jobs. While you may not have to perform all the responsibilities on a daily basis it is important to know what they all are at all times. If everyone does what they are expected to, camp will work more efficiently. The responsibilities for each position are not listed in full; the main ones are listed so you can better understand the types of tasks involved for each position. These are subject to change as the summer progresses. 

Counselor:  

  • Must be 17 years of age or older
  • Must be able to articulate personal relationship with Jesus Christ 
  • Able to lead a devotional for the campers in your cabin
  • Able to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with a child
  • Comfortable with talking to a child about a relationship with Jesus 
  • Responsible for up to 12 children ages 8-15
  • Help facilitate sports, nature, craft activities
  • Responsible for documenting and handling behavior problems
  • Greet parents on Monday and Friday
  • Able to get along with different types of people

Barn Worker:

  • 16 years of age or older
  • Able to articulate a personal relationship with Jesus Christ
  • Accountable to your barn supervisor and willing to do what they ask of you
  • Must know how to saddle a horse
  • Must be able to lead a horse with child on it
  • Responsible for helping feed and care for animals throughout the day
  • Able to work well in hot weather
  • Responsible for documenting and handling behavior problems
  • Able to get along with different types of people

Environmental Service Worker (Kitchen/Maintenance):

  • 16 years of age or older
  • Able to articulate a personal relationship with Jesus Christ
  • Accountable to your supervisor and willing to do what is asked of you
  • Responsible for cleaning the bathhouse and Porto-johns
  • Responsible for helping clean up after meals and cleaning the Shaffer building bathrooms
  • Responsible for taking water to water stations and collecting trash
  • Responsible to return equipment in the same condition that it was given to you
  • Able to get along with different types of people
  • Assist Camp Cook and Kitchen Supervisor in preparing and serving meals 
  • Set up and clean up for each meal and snack time.
  • Responsible for helping prepare and serve afternoon and evening snacks

Nurse:

  • 18 years of age or older, with childcare experience
  • Able to articulate a personal relationship with Jesus Christ
  • Accountable to your supervisor and willing to do what is asked of you
  • Responsible for receiving medication for children at check-in
  • Responsible for distributing medication to child throughout the week at the appropriate time and in the appropriate way. 
  • Responsible for giving first aid to child and staff 
  • Keep a detailed list of all medication and first aid given
  • On call for night-time emergencies
  • Work with camp leader and director in determining if a child should be sent home due to sickness 
  • Maintaining the cleanliness of the nurses station 
  • Organizing medication that camp keeps on hand and informing leaders when medication needs to be refilled.
