Camp Hope Haven 2023!

Camp Hope Haven Summer 2023 is on the way!

In this new year, we are excited to prepare for a new summer of camp! As the world tries to find its new normal, we are also doing the same at Camp Hope Haven. We were still able to serve many kids this past summer. We hope to do so for even more kids and teens in 2023. We have some great things planned for this summer including skits, nature lesson, Bible lesson, petting zoo, camp carnival, camp games, arts and crafts, camp chapel and The Pie Olympics!

Schedule

We have shifted the overall camp dates due to the staffing need to serve all of the wonderful campers that we see throughout the summer. We have also gone back to having dual camps for 4 of the 6 weeks. Teen camp and kids camp will not interact with each other, but are running at the same time.

Kids Camp:

June 26- 30: Younger Girls, 8–10 years old

July 3-7: Younger Boys, 8-10 years old

July 10-14: Older Girls, 11-12 years old

July 17-21: Younger Girls, 8-10 years old

July 24-28: Older Boys, 11–12 years old

July 31- August 4: Older Girls, 11-12 years old

Teen Camp:

June 26-30: Teen Boys, 13–15 years old

July 3-7: Teen Girls, 13-15 years old

July 17-21: Teen Boys, 13-15 years old

July 24-28: Teen Girls, 13–15 years old

As you can see, we have changed from our typical schedule and have also set the camp weeks back a little later. As we move forward with these dates, we will be happy to answer any questions you may have! Contact us at camp@ummnorva.org or call us at (757)427-1500.

Camp Cost

Due to the current state of the economy, and the overall cost of running camp going up, we have raised our prices for camp. It is $100 for kids camp and $125 for teen camp. Our sponsorship program is still available for those who need help for their child to attend. We are dedicated to making sure that every child has an opportunity to go to camp. Contact the camp registrar (contact info listed above) about that process and we are happy to help anyone who needs it.  We know that times have been hard on everyone and we still want all children to be able to come to camp, regardless of the price.

These dates will also be posted on our website camp page, as well as on our social media platforms! Feel free to follow us on Instagram and Facebook to see fun posts about camp and important updates as we get closer to camp.

2022 Covid-19 Policy

Hello Parents and Campers,

The staff of Camp Hope Haven are very thankful that the CDC and the State of Virginia are allowing summer camps to operate in 2022.The health and safety of our campers and staff are of the highest priority. The following are the measures we plan to implement at Camp Hope Haven to ensure a safe and fun camp environment.

  • Hand sanitizer available at all the various locations around camp.
  • Counselors and campers will have personal sanitizer they can carry around.
  • Temperature checks for campers who feel unwell
  • Keeping cabin numbers to 10 campers per cabin
  • Limited contact with visitors
  • Monitoring the health of campers and staff, and if necessary, sending children and staff home that are unwell.

As we get closer to the summer, and start the camp season, we will be keeping a close eye on Covid numbers. If you have any questions, please contact us at camp@ummnorva.org, or call us at (757)427-1500.

Grace & Peace,

Camp Hope Haven 2021

As we plan Camp Hope Haven 2021, we are happy to report that overnight summer camps will be allowed in Virginia this summer. As we continue to pray about camp, we are moving forward with an overnight camp schedule—and registration starts this week! Registration can be found here.

Camp Hope Haven will see a few changes, however. Here are a few important things to know…

Limited Camper Numbers

With the current COVID-19 regulations, we are limiting the number of campers each week to 60 with an additional wait list of 36 for each week. This could allow us to add more campers as CDC and state guidelines change.

Change in Camp Dates

To maximize the efficiency of camp and allow for all of our normal age groups to attend, we are switching around some of our traditional camp timeframes. This is our new schedule.

June 21-25, Younger Girls, 8-10 years old

June 28-July 2, Older Boys, 11-12 years old

July 5-9, Teen Girls, 13-15 years old

July 12-16, Younger Boys, 8-10 years old

July 19-23, Older Girls, 11-12 years old

July 26-30, Teen Boys, 13-15 years old

These dates are also posted on the Camp Hope Haven page.

Registration

Registration for Camp Hope Haven 2021 will officially open on Friday, March 5 at 8 a.m. You can register here.

If you preregistered your children for Camp Hope Haven in 2020, you will not have to re-register them. We have transferred all preregistered children to the new week for their age groups. If these new dates will not work with your child’s summer schedule, please contact Hope Haven at your earliest convenience so that we can allow for as many campers as possible.

We are excited to host our 60th camping season this summer and we appreciate your patience, flexibility, and understanding as things may change to make that happen. We will do our best to keep you updated on any new decisions and policies.

If you have any questions regarding the new camp dates or procedures related to COVID, please contact Diana Johnson at the Hope Haven office. The best email to contact us through is camp@ummnorva.org. You can also call us at (757)427-1500. Our current office hours are Monday- Thursday 9am- 4pm, Friday 9am- 1pm.
